I have one question about LDC0851.

My customer considering the LDC0851 glasses processing machine.

My customer concern that LDC0851 detection shavings charged with static electricity.

Does this product have impact of static electricity?

Please give me some adovices.

Hello Fukazawa-san,
The LDC0851 is not sensitive to static electricity. However, if there is an ESD event the LDC0851 is rated for ±1000V for HBM and ±250V for CDM.

I understand LDC0851 is not sensitive to static electricity.
If you have date that represents the impact of the electrostatic object is attached to LDC0851.
Could you show me that date ?

Hello Fukazawa-san,
The output of the LDC0851 is a high or low signal, therefore we do not have any raw data to show other than it does not switch when nearby static charges are present. You may purchase one of the LDC0851EVMs from the e-store and test your specific setup. The EVMs can be found here: www.ti.com/.../LDC0851EVM

I understand LDC0851 is'nt sensitive to static electricity .

My customer use of situasion of in the picture.

In this situation , it will affect the detection of metal?

Hello Fukazawa-san,

Having a static charge buildup on the coil is a DC effect. The LDC0851 is not sensitive to DC fields and therefore it should not effect the switching distance.
