LDC1612EVM: GUI does not find device (Windows 10 x64)

Part Number: LDC1612EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1612

I have got the LDC1612EVM today. I downloaded the software and installed the software (GUI and drivers). The device manager shows the "EVM (COM3)" device.

However when starting the GUI it shows: Not connected / SSP EVM disconnected

Then I have installed the software on the same computer in a virtual machine running Windows XP x32. And this time it works.

Any ideas why it does not work with Windows 10 x64?

GUI-Version: 1.9.1

Driver Version 1.3.0  (02/.11/2014)

  • Hello Dirk,

the GUI should work on Windows 10. Was the driver installed correctly? Does the EVM show up in the ports section of your device manager?

  • Hello Ben,

yes I can confirm, the GUI works on Windows 10, at least on another computer.

However on my computer the driver installation seems to work without problems. In the device manager the EVM is also shown without errors. I have compared all settings with the computer, where it works, and could not find any differences.
But on my computer I can not access the COM-Port neither with GUI nor with a terminal program.
I did also change the COM-Port number and removed all other COM-Ports I ever had. And I have tried another USB-Port. Nothing helps.
So it must be something with my PC, but I have no Idea what it is. Other devices, that connect via a COM-Port over USB (CDC) work without problems.

On the other hand this is not critical for me. Because I am interested in the LDC1612 and not in the USB-Port. And I have a way to work with the board.

So if someone has a suggestion what I can do else, you are welcome. But if not, this is not really a problem to me.
  • At least I got the EVM working with my Windows 10 PC. I simply added a passive USB2.0 Hub between the EVM-Board and the PC. Don't ask me why, but now it is working. Perhaps this helps someone.
  • Hello Dirk,
thank you for sharing your findings. I'm glad you found a solution, even if it is really a strange work-around. I hope your post will help others in the community.
  • After all I have found a better solution. I have disabled the Power Management of all USB-Root-Hubs in the Device Manager.
Go to the Device Manager > USB-Controller->Right click on the USB-Root-Hub > Properties > Power management > Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
No I can use the board without a hub.
  • Hi Dirk,

That is interesting. Thanks for this update!
