LDC1101: Some questions about LDC1101 that was used measure speed?

Part Number: LDC1101

Dear,

I want to use LDC1101 measure rotation speed;

but the target was so fast which speed reach 12000rmin and  small which diameter just 1mm;

and the distance of sensor with target is 4mm;

I want to ask if I can use LDC1101 to measure the rotation speed.

Thank you!

Regards,

Wang.

  • Hello,
    Could you provide more information on the rotating object? Is it a completely metallic cylinder with 1mm diameter? Note that the LDC1101 needs to see a rotating target with both metal and non-metal surfaces (or difference in metal-to-sensor proximity as it rotates) to see the difference in inductance. Examples would be if the rotating object is a drill bit or a gear with metallic teeth, then there would be a difference in metal-to-sensor proximity as it rotates and this would cause an inductance to change which could work. So, please help clarify what the target looks like and additionally other dimensions like how much PCB space is available for sensing, etc.
    Thanks,
    Luke
  • Hello Luke,

    Thanks for your reply.

    The rotation object is iron wire that completely metallic cylinder , it's length about 3mm, and  the linear speed of the target about 60m/s.

    PCB available space for sensing: 5mm * 10mm.

    The distance between target with sensing about 4mm;

    Can I get the desire result use LDC1101 as detection device?

    Best regards,

    Wang
