LDC2114EVM: Problem with the connection of the LDC2114EVM

Part Number: LDC2114EVM

Hello,

I have a problem with the connection of the LDC2114EVM.
After connecting it to my PC, the PWR LED, the green LED D11 and the red LED D12 are on.
When I start the "Sensing Solutions EVM GUI", the device gets not detected and also in the "Device Manager" it is not listed. It says "USB-Device not detected"

Switching the port also does not help.
Only when i put the device in BSL-Mode and update the Firmware with the "MSP430 USB Firmware Upgrade Example", the device gets detected and works well.
After unplug and reconnecting it, it does the same things as mentioned and gets not detected anymore.

Another Problem:

When i save the register setings in the register page, and want to write them into the EVM, the values gets updated after a short amount of time and then the old values are set again.
And in general i have problems with setting the registers.

Is there any Problem with the chip?

Thanks for support,

and Kind Regards,

Marcel Kaufmann

  • Hi Marcel,

Apologies, you are having trouble communicating with the EVM. Unless the EVM is detected by the GUI (it should say LDC2114EVM connected on the status bar at the bottom), I am afraid the register write page will not work.

Another thing to remember is that the GUI doesn't automatically put the device in I2C configuration mode, configuration mode is is set by writing 0x01 to RESET (address 0x0A).

Once you are in configuration mode, make all the desired changes, and then write 0x00 to RESET to go into active mode.

It will be tough to diagnose the non detection issue if the computer doesn't recognize the EVM in the device manager. The device should show up as "EVM" under the com ports section. At this point I would recommend replacing your EVM, contacting the TI store support with the issue should get you a replacement device fairly quickly. Is there a USB hub between the PC and the EVM, if so can you try connecting directly to the PC?

    Regards,

    Varn
  • Hi Varn,

    Thank you for your answer.
    Sorry for the delay.

Unfortunalety i didn´t purchased the EVM from the TI store.

The TI Store - Support told me to ask my distributor for a refund.
Now that the purchase date was June 2017, they won´t get me a refund, because of their policy.

Is there any other possibiity to get a new EVM or to resolve the problem otherwise?

    Thanks for support

    Regards,

    Marcel
