LDC1612EVM: LDC EVM not connected

Part Number: LDC1612EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1612,

Hello My Customer has installed the latest sensing EVM GUI software, 1.9.2. The software seems to be installed correctly and the sensing GUI screen comes up, but when the LDC1612 EVM is connected the status says 'Not Connected. Looking in the device manager is shows:

It appears there is a problem with the MSP430 driver. Any suggestions?

  • Hello Chris,
The pictures did not come through, however the board should come up as "EVM" in the COM section of Device manager. If it shows up as anything else or does not show in the device manager, then we recommend to put the device into BSL mode and re-upload the firmware with that comes with the software. For the LDC1612EVM, it’s typically located in the following location: C:\ti\Sensing Solutions EVM GUI-1.9.2\EVM Firmware\LDC1612_RevB
For guidance on how to put the board into BSL mode, you can point them to Question 36 of the FAQ: e2e.ti.com/.../295036
    Thanks!

  • This issue was investigated offline. The solution was to use Device Manager to update the driver to the one installed with the GUI. This was for the MSP430.
