LDC2114: turning off baseline tracking

Part Number: LDC2114

I am looking to use the LCD2114 to track the position of a linear shaft. By applying a triangular foil label to the shaft we are looking to calibrate the sensor output to the shaft position.

However the baseline tracking has introduced a problem in that the sensor reading is not absolute and the base-tracking algorithm results in the sensor output always tracking back to zero.

I have looked at using the Base Line Tracking Pause (register 0x16) however this only works when the sensor is asserted and has no effect otherwise.

Is it possible to turn the base-tracking feature off, and then use our own software to calibrate the sensor?

Many Thanks
