LDC1101: L resolution at maximum sample rate

Part Number: LDC1101

Hi I'm hyuni,

I have a confused one about table 1 of resolution at 11page in SNOSD01 and at  figure 4 in SNOA944

I don't understand two data sheet to be not matching

figure 4 is that lower frequency and higher RCOUNT have an effective resolution. right?

and then

In table 1, Maximum sample rate like a higher RCOUNT has 6.5bits which is the very lower resolution

so, I'm confused cuz' not matching

please let me know that situation exactly. Thank you

  • Hi Hyuni,

Your interpretation of Figure 4 in Optimizing L Measurement Resolution for the LDC161x and LDC1101 is correct. The lower the sensor frequency and the larger the RCOUNT that you use, the smaller the resolution you will have. This is consistent with Table 1 in the LDC1101 datasheet, which shows the reduced resolution when using the maximum sample rate, which is inversely proportional to RCOUNT. RCOUNT is essentially the amount of time that the LDC1101 is given to correctly measure the sensor frequency of the device. The longer it is given to measure the frequency, the more accurate it will be and the smaller frequency shifts it will be able to detect, improving the resolution. This also means that each sample will take longer to compute, so the sample rate will decrease as RCOUNT increases. The maximum sample rate is achieved with the minimum RCOUNT setting.

    and one more thing
I'd like to know sample rate calculations or formula, which is not in the datasheet.
