AWR1243: Bandwidth of Antenna on AWR1243 Boost EVM

Part Number: AWR1243

Hi,

I wanted to know what is the bandwidth of the antennae etched on the AWR 1243Boost EVM ?

Thank you,

RJ

  • Hi RJ,

All of the XWRx EVM TX and RX antennas (including the GCPW and Microstrip transmission line feed) designed to achieve better than -10dB S11 across the full 76GHz to 81GHz operating bands of these devices.

    Does this answer your question?

    Randy,

Thank you so much for your reply. This answers my questions. As a follow-up I understand that the design intent was to get performance over the 5 GHz BW.

Do you have any S11 measurements for comparison as to how it turned out from design vs realization perspective ?

    Regards,

    RJ

    Hello RJ,
You can find the S11 numbers in the errata document (www.ti.com/.../swrz071.pdf).
we are presently not meeting the -10 dB S11 across the whole band but would be improving this. But the TX and RX performance numbers we quote are with the present S11 we have on our boards.

    regards,
    Dham

Thank you Dham for the reply. I appreciate your help.

If I understand correctly this will be improved at the package level in production samples on the chip (die to package transition) ? or is the root cause the GCPW and tx line and improvements will be made at the eval board level ?

    Best Regards,

    RJ

    Hello RJ,
We have not yet finalized on the exact .Our first preference would be to fix it in the package.

    regards,
    Vivek

    Hi RJ,

Also, concerning designed vs. fabricated antenna match on the Boosterpack EVM, we do not have any measurement data we can share at this time.

Please let us know if this answers your questions on this topic.

  • In reply to Randy Rosales:

    Thank you Vivek and Randy.

    Regards

    RJ
