AWR1243: IF Bandwidth Question

Part Number: AWR1243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443,

Hi,

Is the 15 MHz IF bandwidth defined as the -3 dB point, -6 dB point or the where the gain just starts to roll-off of the LPF ?

Thank you,

RJ

  • Hello RJ,

The Radio bandwidth is based on the passband of the FIR filters within the Digital Front End (DFE) portion after the AtoD converter.  This is < 1db of passband ripple at this point.

The DFE has 2 sets of Decimation filters, with adjustments to select the optimal sample complex or real sample rate, with the 80% band FIR filtering.   The DFE contains decimating filters, and resamplers.

There are several DFE processing modes, for real , complex 2x, and complex 1x.   Complex 1x is a shifted frequency spectrum 0 - Fs.   Real and Complex 2x are the traditional radio equivalent signal processing modes.

    Here are two examples:

    xWR1642

ComplexADC sampling, DFE 1st stage out - 100Msps, Complex 1x mode, DFE 2nd stage out- 6.25Msps, 5Mhz BW

    AWR1243, IWR1443

ComplexADC sampling, DFE 1st stage out - 200Msps, Complex 2x mode, DFE 2nd stage out- 18.75Msps, +/-7.5Mhz BW

ComplexADC sampling, DFE 1st stage out - 200Msps, Complex 1x mode, DFE 2nd stage out- 18.75Msps, 15Mhz BW

    RealADC sampling       , DFE 1st stage out - 200Msps, Real mode,             DFE 2nd stage out - 18.75Msps, 7.5Mhz BW
