AR1443EVM (XAR1243): Connecting to Radar Studio

I have AR1443EVM (evaluation board) with XAR1243 (which may be a sample device). This setup works with mmw_demo software, which might indicate that USB driver setup on my computer is complete.

To use the eval board with Radar Studio in Development Mode, I used the same setup as that used in mmw_demo experiment and found error messages in Radar Studio (shown below): No. of Devices Detected: 0, and Setting SOP Mode to Mode 2 (Development) returned "Radar devices not selected!"

I also erased SFLASH of the eval board as instructed and found the same issue.

Hello Hyun,
In order connect the EVM to radar studio you need to use the mmwave dev pack board as well. For the exact HW connection please refer to the mmwave devpack user guide (www.ti.com/.../swru506.pdf).
For detailed instructions on the usage of the radar studio you can refer to the "RadarStudio_User's_Guide" that is present in the dfp package (www.ti.com/.../mmwave-dfp).

Hi Vivek,

Thank you for your feedback. I have the dev pack board (and TSW1400 board) and its HW connection is configured as described in the user guide (picture attached).

I still have the same issue: No. of Devices Detected: 0. Thank you.

Wanted to make sure your PC is able to identify all the ports on Devpack as well as the EVM.

Can you please share a snapshot of device manager view with these boards connected.

Attached a snapshot of device manager. After "erasing the flash" of the eval board (for raw data capture experiment), the list of USB connections looks different: A-to-D are not shown.

How do you check if PC identifies Devpack? Thank you.

Hi Hyun,

Along with the 2 XDS100 ports, you should also see 4 ports associated with the DevPack as shown below. The ports are probably showing up as generic USB devices due to the drivers. I would suggest disconnecting the board and reconnecting it and noting which "Universal Serial Bus controllers" show up upon connecting. Once again, there should be 4. Then try updating the drivers for the 4 ports by right clicking on it and selecting "Update Driver Software" and then select "Search automatically..."

Thanks, Kevin. Now I see 4 additional ports (but without drivers installed). Can you point me to the driver download? I tried FTDI driver in mmwave SDK, but it didn't work. Thank you.

The driver from SDK is the correct one to download. You might have to repeat the process for each of the usb ports showing up in device manager.

Thank you, Vaibhav. I was able to install the driver for DevPack USB, and now Radar Studio sees the device.
