AWR1642BOOST: for stopping sensor, the radar should be restarted

Hello,

The newly published vital sign demo on AWR1642 which uses Qt GUI has an issue with stopping the sensor. In fact, every time I try to stop bu the GUI push-bottom the sensor does not stop (the yellow LED on the board is still on). This is frustrating that for stopping it, I should power cycle the device. Could help me to fix it, or are you going to update the code?

Thank you for your feedback.

The "stop" button is not intended to stop the sensor. It is intended to stop processing the sensor data.

As you have mentioned, in order to fully stop the sensor one would need to power down the board

But the "stop button" for AWR1443 is intended for stopping the radar! In fact, there is a CLI command for stopping the radar, so why the code is not sending such command to stop it? Why should I restart this radar every time while this is not necessary for AWR1442?

Power cycling the radar after each time stopping the GUI is not convenient and it is not reasonable. It means every time I push the stop button, I could not start the GUI again.

I checked the "stop button" on the IWR1443 and you are correct.

On the AWR1642 this is a bug.

Will report it so that it is fixed in the next release.

No problem. I hope that the new release will come soon.

I am actually using this demo as a part of my research. For achieving so, I think I have to update the program.
