DCA1000EVM: Ethernet communication issue

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642BOOST

I have an AWR1642BOOST connected to a DCA1000EVM board.  I have successfully connected the the package to mmWave Studio on my PC and successfully configured the FTDI, RS232, and SPI connections.  However, when I click the "RF power-up" button, I get an error that says, "Status: Failed, Error Type: RESP TIMEOUT".  When I try to set up the DCA1000, I get a message that says the Ethernet cable is disconnected.  I'm not sure if the two are related, but I could use some help figuring out where I am going wrong.  I have tried it with the Ethernet cable connected directly to my PC and with it going through a gigabit switch, but I don't see any data in either case.  Ultimately, I want to use the SensorConfig section of mmWave studio to configure my own chirps.  Any advice is appreciated.  Thank you!

  • Russel,

It looks like you need to change the firmware images that you are flashing to your device. You'll see in the Device Status line in the screenshot that you uploaded that your device is an ES 1.0 device. This means that you need to flash ES 1.0 firmware to your device. From the log file seen in your screenshot, you attempted to flash ES 2.0 firmware to your device. This mismatch caused the RF power-up to fail. Please correct to the proper firmware version for your device and then proceed.

    Regards,
    Kyle
