OPT8241-CDK-EVM: OPT9221 Register Description

Part Number: OPT8241-CDK-EVM

In the Voxel Viewer application there are several parameters that indicate they are OPT9221 registers but are not described in the datasheet and don't have a description provided in the application.  These include: data_latency, illum_ovtemp_thresh, init_2, init_3, init_4, init_5, sensor_ovtemp_thresh, sscg_en, sscg_modulation, sscg_period.  Can TI provide a description or do we just consider these to be magic register values?

  • Steve,

There will be a datasheet update with documentation on these registers. For now, you can right click on each parameter in VoxelViewer to get the parameter's description, address and default value.

    Best Regards,
    Anand

In Voxel Viewer v0.9.6, these registers do not have a description, only the address, affected bits, current value, and limits. Any time frame on the updated datasheet?
  • In reply to Steve Gieseking:

At this time, I don't have a firm date for the datasheet release. However it is in the pipeline and should be available shortly.

VoxelSDK and consequently VoxelViewer pick the register information from the OPT9221.dml file. If you use the OPT9221.dml file from the latest VoxelSDK, you should see the new registers in VoxelViewer 0.9.6 as well.
(The latest DML file is available here: github.com/.../OPT9221.dml
Just copy it to C:\Users\username\.Voxel\conf to have the SDK/Viewer pick it up).
  • In reply to Anand Gadiyar:

Sorry, I realize you already have the latest with v0.9.6.

I will check about getting these registers described earlier than in the datasheet release.
  • In reply to Anand Gadiyar:

Are all of these registers valid for all versions of the firmware or are some only used by newer versions of the firmware?
  • In reply to Steve Gieseking:

These are applicable to all versions of the OPT9221 firmware.
