OPT8241 optical band-pass filter

The bandpass filter is on the glass package (not on the physical die). Unfortunately there are no ICs without band-pass filter available as samples.
There may be ways to remove the filter using chemical etching. But TI has not explored such options. Also, TI does not guarantee device operation after any such exercise.
Could you give us some hints on the use case?

Many thanks for your reply. I would like to get grayscale information from the chip in addition to depth data. Clearly I could get this info from adding a second camera, but this adds complexity (and mass) to my system which I'd like to fly on a small UAV.

Did you also consider OPT8320? It is a single chip 3DToF solution. Although the resolution is lower, there could be a lot you can do combining the info from gyro, accelerometer and OPT8320. Both OPT8241+OPT9221 and OPT8320 provide grayscale (12-bit active modulated light intensity and a very coarse 4-bit ambient unmodulated light intensity).
