OPT8241-CDK-EVM: Register and Output Block

Part Number: OPT8241-CDK-EVM

Hi,
I've read the OPT8241 doc and I couldn´t understand how the outputblock works, I can't figure it out how it sends the data. The text says that it has two options of output, serial and parallel, but how do I set up wich option I want as output ? Along with the output data, how can i interpret the VD_QD and VD_SF  control signals?
And about the Register controlled by the I2C, I only need to configure the TG and DE registers (0x58 and 0x5C) ?

Thanks.

Pedro

  • Hi,

The OPT8241 is controlled by and communicates only with the OPT9221. Please refer to the OPT9221 datasheet available here: www.ti.com/.../opt9221

The OPT9221 sends data in 8-lane parallel mode by default.

    Best Regards,
    Anand
  • Hi,

I don´t understand why the OPT8241 has two options of output interface, is there a way of changing wich output I want it to use to comunicate with the OPT9221?and I'm still doubtful about the I2C communication betweeen the OPT8241 and OPT9211 , what is the function of the block named Register inside OPT8241,wich receives I2C values ?I mean, is this register used to setup single or continuous read/write operations ?

    Regards,
