LM34CA and LM285 Temperature Stability

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM34

Per the LM34CA spec sheet, the long-term stability is +/-0.16C at T_max. Is the stability less than this value for temperatures less than T_max? What is the stability beyond 1000 hours? Does the sensor stabilize after 1000 hours or does it continue to drift increasing +/-0.16C every 1000 hours?

Regarding the LM285, its specified long term stability of the LM285 is stated as 20 ppm at 1000 hours. Is this ppm the voltage output of the device? Also, what is the stability beyond 1000 hours?

  • Hi Steven,

I will look into LM34, and get back to you. For LM285, you might need to post it on Power Forum.

  • Hi Steven,

I tried to dig into our database if I can find any historical data, unfortunately, there was no luck. In addition, I am not allow to disclose any data on the public forum. This part is the long time released device.

Tj_Max would most likely be the data collected after 1000 hours of burn-in, and the maximum long term stability would most like be the maximum change seen at the 1000 hours. We never know for example after sometimes 10 years later the CMOS/Bipolar technology in result wearout where defects/failure rates rise to unacceptable level.

I also found my colleagues responded to this thread where she talked about an article written by Bob Pease.

    Hope this helps!
