Differences between Pt100 classes!

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMT70

Hello,

I'm a student and now I'm starting to work with Pt100 sensors. There are various classifications of Pt100 (eg., Class A, Class B, etc..) I know they have varying accuracies and also have application based advantages. I'd like to hear expert opinion on how one would classify these Pt100 classes. If you have already existing literature on this query, please do direct me to that. Thanks.

Regards.

  • Hi Ram,

Thanks for using TI E2e forums. FYI, this forum is dedicated for questions related to our tenperature sensors ICs.

I will ask around and check some of our documentation to see if we have a Presentation or app note related to Pt100 sensors.

  • Hi Ram,

Yes there a varying RTD PT100 classes that are very well known in the industry. These classes are set by industry standards bodies such as IEC and ASTM. I created this curve:

of some of the classes available. The temperature range of this curve is -50 to +150C, PT100 can go over a much wider range. The curve in red shows our newest analog temperature sensor the LMT70. As you can see it's accuracy meets or even beets some of the most accurate classes of RTDs.

    I hope this helps,
