SensorTag IR thermopile sensor TMP007

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP006, TMP007

Can't seem to get stable, accurate readings from IR temperature sensor on the sensortag. Our product needs to measure skin temperature to within a couple of degrees accuracy. Do you know if the TMP006/007 sensors are up to the job and is there a better solution from TI?

Thanks, Zaffer

  • Hi Zaffer,

Since your question in more about the performance of the temperature sensor itself, I'm moving the thread to our Temperature Sensor forum. Our experts there will better be able to assist you with your component selection.

  • Zaffer,
I've not worked with the sensor tag itself. But we offer other EVMs for the TMP006 and TMP007, including TMP007EasyCalEVM. The best advice i can offer is that with any TMP006/007 application the distance and filed of view need to be stable before you can get a stable reading. With the sensor tag people tend to hold the device with their hand up to an object, and thats fine just to see the response, but once you want to take data and verify accuracy you need a stable set up. If you provide more information about your application I may be able to help more.
