LMT70 mechanical design for human body

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMT70, TMP007

Hello,

Customer would like to do human body temperature measurement. What Is direct touch skin or indirect touch on human measurement? Has any suggest mechanical design of LMT70 for reference? Thank you.

  • Hi Patrick,

Direct skin touch is when the IC is pressed against the human skin and temperature measurements are made. We do not recommend doing this as the package is exposed and could be damaged by outside forces. I am not familiar with the term indirect touch. There are indirect ways to measure temperature such as infrared, which the TMP007 uses.

We have been conducting on-going tests for optimal mechanical designs for the LMT70. There is a published TI Design that mentions how the LMT70 can be used for human body temperature measurements. The test report details the LMT70 thermal response and improving accuracy for human skin temperature measurements (www.ti.com/.../TIDA-00452).

Let me know if you have any questions.
