Regarding TMP112 Temperature Sensor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP112

Hello,

Can I know about the placement of the TMP112 Sensor for the Human Body Temperature Measurement.

In one of the TI forum Post, I saw some stainless steel fabrication w.r.t TMP112 Sensor for skin temperature Measurement.

Can you please confirm me on the above two things ?

  • Hi,

The TMP112 sensor is the chip itself. What it reports back is the die temperature. In order to measure the temperature of a heat source, a good thermal path has to exist between the heat source and TMP112. Normally this thermal path is through the ground pin.

If you have the device close to skin, and establish a low resistance thermal path (metal) from the skin to ground pin, the device will be able to accurately reflect the skin temperature.
