TMP112 unused ALERT pin

Guru 20090 points

Hello,

Could you please let me know the pin connection of unused ALERT pin?
Should we tied it to GND?
If yes, is the supply current increased on this connection?

I would like to reduce the supply current as small as possible.
Thus, I want to check this.

Best Regards,
Ryuji Aska

  • Hi Ryuji,

The ALERT pin can either be tied to ground or leave it floating. Either one will not allow current flow into the pin.

  • It should be left floating. It can be tied to GND in normal operation, because it should never pull to supply in normal operation. However, it may be possible for it to pull to supply under unusual conditions. That's why I'm recommending that it be left floating.

The ALERT pin is an output only, so it should not have excessive current when left floating like an input could.
