TMP007: TMP007 for water temp measurement

Part Number: TMP007

Dear Sir

We would like to develop a product like below

Could I use TMP007 to measure the temp of water for waterproof environment?  (through transparent material)

Thanks

Dear Sir

  • Water has a high emissivity, which makes it a good material for infrared temperature measurement.

However, it's critical that a window material is chosen which allows transmission of medium wavelength infrared radiation in the 4-16um range. Many materials which are optically clear to the human eye do not allow transmission of the wavelengths used for temperature measurement.

Please see the IR FAQ on E2E. e2e.ti.com/.../548824

    Thanks,
    Ren
  • Dear Ren

So you mean , if we need to pass waterproof test ,we need find the material of transmission can meet medium wavelength infrared radiation in the 4-16um range ,is it right ?
If yes ,do you have any recommend material can do ??

    Thanks
  • Yes, this is correct.

The IR FAQ has a small section on window materials. You can see common infrared materials available for sale from Edmund Optics.
