TMP302: Internal circuit of OUT terminal(3pin)

Hi!

Please tell me a internal circuit of OUT terminal(3pin).

Does it have a surge protection diode of high side or another protection circuit built-in?
Is there a problem with using it as follows?

Vs(5pin) : 1.8V
OUT(3pin) : Pull-up to 3.3V by 10Kohm

Hello Itabi,

The OUT terminal voltage is independent of the supply voltage and therefore can be greater than Vs. This is true as long as you do not exceed the maximum rating of 3.6V shown in section 6.1 of the data sheet.

There should be no issues with that setup.

But my customer is eager to confirm the internal circuit.

Hello again Itabi,

There is not a surge protection diode for the OUT pin, that pin would use some other ESD protection circuit.

I don't currently have the specifics of the topology of the ESD protection circuit for that pin, but if that information is necessary for your application we are happy to look more into it for you.

I'm requested to analyze the sample destroyed by ESD from my customer.
It was destroyed by evaluation.

There is no diode for ESD protection for the OUT pin. The equivalent circuit is an open-drain output configuration.

The maximum voltage for the OUT pin is specified in the datasheet as Brandon has suggested.

I understand the OUT pin is Open-drain.

I think that the OUT pin have some other ESD protection circuit inside.
Could you tell me those equivalent circuit? or doesn't it have other protection circuit?

As I mentioned above, there is no ESD protection circuit for OUT pin...but let me check with the designer again and see if the body diode of the output FET serves as an ESD snub.

I was mistaken before. There is an ESD cell at the OUT pin for protection. Let me see what I can disclose.
