AMC6821EVM: Tie-up circuit for TACH output of 4-wire fan

From the circuit diagram in the AMC6821EVM Users Guide (Figure 9, page 13) that show how to hook up a 4-wire 12V fan, I was wondering if the TACH input signal tie-up voltage has to be divided down from the Fan PWR line (12V).

Can't we just use a 2.2K tie up to 3.3V for the TACH output signal from our 4-wire fan (Vdd of AMC6821 IC will be 3.3V).

We will be using a San_Ace_97BMB33 4-wire fan running off 24Vdc.
