TMP431: Alert resets and pin configuration

Guru 16770 points
Part Number: TMP431

Hi

We have question of TMP431 functions.

1.

According to the datasheet, /ALERT can be de-asserted when the master reads the device address.

Is there any other condition that ALERT status is cleared?

2.

Is it possible to connect SCL/SDA to 3.3V and ALERT, THERM to V+ (5V)?

Even if that connection is accepted, is it possible to lead to degrade the accuracy of the measured temperature?

BestRegards

  • Hi na,

    1. ALERT operates as an MCU interrupt. It is only de-asserted when the MCU reads the Status register. THERM is better suited to stand-alone use, because it de-asserts when the temperature falls.
    2. Per Section 6.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings, the ALERT pin cannot exceed V+. If V+ = 5V, then this condition should be fine. SCL/SDA will operate with 3.3V logic levels during 5V V+, due to the fixed values for Vih and Vil in Section 6.5 Electrical Characteristics. If Vih/Vil scaled with V+ (it does in other products,) then this would not work.

    Thanks,
    Ren
