TMP112: Drift

The drift of the TMP112A is quoted as <1 LSB in 3000 hours (+-0.0625C), and in a  previous post on this site (with the same title) it was quoted that the maximum drit over the lietime is 0.3degC. Is there a reference document/qual report where this figure is available to be referenced. In my application I need +-0.5degC over lifetime of the sensor, so would need to calibrate the sensor to +-0.2degc with 0.3degC long term drift, and need these figures to be tracable.

    I'm not sure why 0.3C was quoted on E2E.

    The datasheet is the published document that guarantees parameters of a particular device. There isn't another document. However, I can elaborate on what that 3000 hour note means.

    When we're developing a new device, it must pass a series of qualification tests prior to release. One of the tests accelerates aging of the device in order to simulate the service life of the device in end equipment. This accelerated aging is defined by the Arrhenius equation. en.wikipedia.org/.../Arrhenius_equation

    In the case of TMP112, it was subjected to 3000 hours of operation at 150C, and we did not observe a measurable change in output. This is why the datasheet says "Long Term Stability, 3000 Hours, < 1 LSB." According to the equation, if your end equipment is operated at 85C continuously, our testing simulates over 10 years of service life with no degradation in accuracy. This life span increases exponentially as the application temperature decreases.

  • If this testing was performed at 150C then this shows very good life characteristics! I just need it written down that this is the case, but unfortunately the datasheet states that

    6.5 Electrical Characteristics
    At TA = +25°C and VS = +1.4V to +3.6V, unless otherwise noted.

    Which would mean either the testing was carried out at 25C or the datasheet should have a note to say 150C. How can I get definitive confirmation that this testing was perormed at 150C and not 25C which could be read from the datasheet.
