searching for temperature sensor

hi

i am designing a project in which i have to measure the boiling temperature of water in a factory. i searched in TI i could get all TMP series diode based temperature sensor. well i cannot put this sensor in the water or keep it near it... so is there any other smart device made by TI which i can use in my project.

please tell your suggestion as i am using MSP430 for this project and want to make it a smart device.

which can meet the recoded for days, give data to PC to plot Graphs, tables, etc...

  • Hi Swapnil,

Unfortunately we do not currently have any devices available that would enable remote temperature sensing without a physical connection to the desired temperature being measured.

Would it be possible for you to place the remote diode or silicon-based temperature sensor on the outside of the container that the water is boiling in? If the thermal impedance of the material holding the water is low  then you should be able to achieve fairly accurate results.  To keep the sensor safe from water you could seal it in an epoxy or other water-proof coating after it has been thermally connected to the outside of the container.

Otherwise you may try looking into an IR based thermal sensor, TI currently does not have any of these available.
