TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM Development

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Hi,

I'm starting development for the TDC1000-TDC7200EVM and would appreciate some assistance with the following queries.

  1. What flash utility should I use to deploy under Linux?
  2. What is the simplest way to go about debugging?

  • Hi Dwayne,

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. The GUI was developed for Windows, so you will need to use a different system or a Windows partition.

If you mean that you are looking for a way to program the MSP430 on the EVM, here is a resource that includes compilers, debuggers, and code development tools for the MSP430 including some Linux compatible options: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Open_Source_Projects_-_MSP430

  • Hi Scott,

Thanks for the link. My system is dual booted and I'm currently using my Windows partition for development. Basically, I wanted to know how persons debugged their firmware when they don't have a MSP-FET? I'm currently using CCS and the flash utility which came with the GUI for my development. I was looking for a Linux equivalent of the Windows flash utility but all the Linux utilities which I've found are JTAG based.

So far, I've been using a console cable connected to the UCA1 UART and RealTerm to debug but I need to reuse that point for my Bluetooth module. I'm not sure how I would go about reconfiguring the fixed USB connection (COM3) to do the same thing.

  • Hi Dwayne,

I see now. This is a little out of my expertise. The engineers over in the MSP430 forum should be able to help you with this.
