LM96550 Frequency Range

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for an ultrasonic pulser, since I'm working on a parametric loudspeaker project. I liked the LM96550 and the LM96551. But I ran into a problem: the frequency range.

In the datasheet, on page 6, in the Analog Characteristics table, it specifies: Fout Output Frequency Range, RL = 100Ω, Min: 1 MHz, Max: 15 MHz.

Why the imposition of the minimum of 1 MHz frequency of operation? Is it due to some internal component? Is it because of the power? Well, usually the one that can operate up to a certain frequency, can operate at less frequency.

The problem is that I need to use the push button with 40 kHz transducers.

Could I use the LM96550 or the LM96551? Would it work with 40 kHz transducers?

Hi Marcelo,

LM9655x devices are not recommended for new designs.
If you are interested in the future devices TI is working on, we will need to get NDA in place.

Ok Praveen. I need help to know if I can use the LM96551 to generate a bipolar signal of 40 kHz.
