TMP102: Is it possible to apply 3.3V to SCL, SDA and ADD0 when powering off (V+=0V)?

Hi Team,

Is it possible to apply 3.3V to SCL, SDA, ADD0 and ALERT when powering off (V+=0V)?
I would like to know if TMP102 could be damaged or not in this case.

I believe it is possible according to the following absolute maximum ratings however would like to confirm just in case.

Hello Yaita,

There is an update being done to the Absolute Max parameters for the device. And you are correct in the interpretation. When shutting down V+, the input pin voltage must not exceed the V+ voltage by 0.5V. Hence when V+ is 0V, the max voltage is 0.5V on the SDA, SCL, ADD0 and ALERT pins.

Regarding your comments, I believe the following red line should be modified in addition to absoute maximum ratings.
Is my understanding correct?

Hello Yaita,

I would not agree on that. As long as the maximum parameters are not violated, it should be OK. Ideally the pull up supply and the V+ should be the same source, but based on the design it may not be possible always. I will check with a co-worker and confirm though.

I checked and my co-worked confirmed that as long as the variation is not more than +0.5V of the supply, the absolute spec will not be reached and the device can operate normally.
