AWR1642: uniflash: cannot flash demo.bin to AWR1642

Part Number: AWR1642
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH,

Hello, everyone.

I met a problem during flashing with Uniflash. Seen as bellow:

I`ve waited for a long long time but it cannot continue to flash xxwr16xx_mmw_demo.bin into AWR1642.

My UniFlash version is 4.5.0.

My COM number is right.(COM4 for user).

I`ve tested that I can erase memory via UniFlash but flash a new one is not successful.

And UniFlash can work well in another PC, so I want to askif there is some problem in my laptop.

Thanks.

  • Please make sure that you are connecting to the correct COM port, the Application/UART port that is listed in the Windows Device Manager.

Make sure to use the latest version of the out-of-box demo that is included in SDK v2.1 that can be downloaded here: www.ti.com/.../MMWAVE-SDK

If you can repeat this process on a different computer, then there is an issue with your laptop. Please also make sure you have the device drivers for AWR1642 installed on your PC so that Windows can recognize the EVM when it is plugged in.

    Regards,
    Kyle
  • Yes, I can repeat this process in another laptop, but I still want to flash with my own one. I learn that CCS can debug on AWR1642, so I think if I could flash bins via CCS debug mode. Is it a feasible way to operate?

    Thanks!

  • I solved my problem by renaming the Admin folder name with an English name in admin mode. Before, my install path in user folder has a Chinese name which isnot allowed in path of flashing demo.bin. I did it anyway so thanks for replying!
  • Yes, you can certainly use the CCS Debug Utility on AWR1642.

Please refer to section 5. 4. 8. CCS Debug Utility in the mmWave SDK User's Guide for SDK v2.1 to learn more about debugging an application within CCS.

    Regards,
    Kyle
