AWR1642: How to use HSRAM

Hi Champs,

Please let me know how to implement the program for the data exchange between DSS and MSS?

Currently, we can’t find the best way so it seems that both DSS and MSS could write and read the data to the HSRAM by accessing directly to the HSRAM addresses.

But, we believe that it is low effectiveness and poor maintainability, so if there is other ways, please let us know.

To access to the HSRAM, there are the different addresses from DSS or MSS.

Could you please let us know the best way.

Hello Hitoshi San,
HSRAM is handhsake memory between MSS and DSS for sharing any kind of data of max 32KB.
Physical memory is same but address is different for MSS and DSS cores; for MSS: 0x5208 0000 and for DSS: 0x2108 0000.
Both of core needs to be in sync to avoid overwriting same memory location.
As in mmw demo of AWR1642 HSRAM memory is being used by DSS to send object data to MSS, so there only DSS is writing data and MSS is reading it.

You can take reference from mmw demo application for rd/wr to this memory.

Hello Jitendra,

Understood that the addresses are the different from MSS or from DSS.

We believe that the procedure in the mmw demo is as follows:
-DSS write the data onto HSRAM
-DSS sends MSS the data address through the mailbox.
-MSS checks and the address and read the data.

If the address is sent by the mailbox, doesn’t it matter of the differences of the addresses for MSS and DSS?
Is there any other better way which does not care about the different addresses for MSS and DSS?

Only the way I know is as follows:
-MSS and DSS have to care for their own correct addresses of HSRAM.

Hi,
HSRAM address is sent by DSS over the mailbox and and MSS translates it to corresponding MSS level address [SOC_translateAddress].
