AWR1243: radar false alarm

Part Number: AWR1243

Hi,there is strange phenomenons with AWR1243.the radar has two transmitting antennas, one is high gain antenna(26dB),another one is low gain antenna(18dB).The radar is 0.5m away from a car and there is nothing else around. The radar and the car are both static.

When the high gain antenna is opened and low gain is closed,a lot of false targets are detected, for example,35m&70km/h,50m&65km/h,102m&46km/h.

When the high gain antenna is closed and low gain is opened, very few false targets are detected.

It seems the false alarm is related to signal strength.

Do you have advice to solve this problem.Thank you

  • Hello ,
Can you share the 2D FFT plot of the problematic case also share the details of the profile, chirp, frame configuration used ?

  • Hi

Can you please share the 2D FFT, range-dopper plot of the scene? Can you also please share the details of the profile, chirp, frame configuration used, TX back-off and RX-gain settings used?

With only 0.5 meter range to a very large automobile reflector, it may be that you are seeing multi-path interference due to the scattering of the very close, target. If you move the radar further away from the target, do you see the same response in the scene? What about when using the lower-gain antenna?

    Thank you,
