AWR1642: Why Tx ball break monitoring report shows 1.6 dB difference between 2 Tx?

Hi,

HW: AWR1642
SW: mmWave SDK 2.1

We're testing Tx ball break monitoring.
No matter on TI AWR1642 EVM or customer EVM, we got around 1.6 dB difference between these 2 Tx.

The value we get is from TX_REFL_COEFF_VALUE inside AWR_MONITOR_TXn_BALLBREAK_REPORT_AE_SB (Refer to DFP)
The 2 value from different 2 Tx are -118=-11.8dB ,-102=-10.2 dB

Is this a normal result? (We expect the difference would be very small)

If this is not a normal result, what could be the reasons behind to lead so much difference?

Hi James,
Have you tried the latest BSS firmware for this experiment? you can pick up this firmware from SDK 3.1 version.

Hi James,

The absolute difference between TX1 and TX2 is not important. The TX ball break monitor is meant to detect a ball break event, and therefore the threshold must be such that a ball break event is easily detected.
