AWR1642BOOST: Some Questions for AWR1642BOOST and AWR1843BOOST

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843BOOST, , DCA1000EVM

Hi,

I'm considering order AWR1642BOOST or AWR1843BOOST. Before that, I need to make sure it can meet my needs. Here are my questions.

1. Can AWR1642BOOST or AWR1843BOOST be configured to work in a mode that radar signal bandwidth is 1GHz?

2. Can we turn on/off some of the multiple Txs and Rxs? For example, can we turn on one Tx of AWR1843BOOST and turn off the other two?

3.  What kind of data (e.g. ADC data) can be obtained from AWR1642BOOST or AWR1843BOOST? Through what kind of interface? CAN?

Thanks.

  • Hi,

    Here are my answers-

    1. Can AWR1642BOOST or AWR1843BOOST be configured to work in a mode that radar signal bandwidth is 1GHz?

Out of 4GHz, it can be configured to any required bandwidth which can be controlled by application APIs.

    2. Can we turn on/off some of the multiple Txs and Rxs? For example, can we turn on one Tx of AWR1843BOOST and turn off the other two?

Yes, it is possible to control to enable any combination of Rx and Tx of the device to send the mmwave signal.

    3.  What kind of data (e.g. ADC data) can be obtained from AWR1642BOOST or AWR1843BOOST? Through what kind of interface? CAN?

Post IF conversion analog data is digitized and stored in ADCBuffer which can be controlled to be of 12/14/16bit sample type. This raw data (ADC data) is stored inside device ADCBuffer memory where DSP of the device can read it to do the FFT/signal processing on it and along with this same data can be transmitted outside of the device (for debug purpose) over LVDS interface.

I would highly recommend you to go over datasheet of this device and for software purpose go over mmWave SDK documents.

  • Hi Jitendra,

Thanks very much for your reply. It's really helpful.

If I want to stream the ADC data to my PC, I can use the DCA1000EVM card. Is that correct?

    Best regards,
    Ziquan
  • Yes

    this is correct

    thank you
