TIDEP-0091: Maximum range that can be achieved

Hello,

What is the maximum distance that can be detected with TIDEP-0091? I have used the default codes for both IWR1443 and MSP432. Standalone IWR1443 BOOST I have tested upto 80m and works nicely. I have designed a horn which filters the RF signals well.

    Glad to know you have been able to reproduce the demo and have  it working at distance of 80m. Please see the Design guide's System overview section that mentions the range of current default code to be 10m to 100m range.

    Range depends on the configuration used for the FMCW device parameters. 

    You might want to check our Out Of Box demo to understand how varying the configuration allows varying the maximum distance of measurement.

    The 80m range was tested with standalone IWR1443 demo visualizer. Will the performance be same even with TIDEP-0091 default code? How can I change the FMCW parameters for TIDEP-0091,

    Hi Prudhvi,

    The TIDEP-0091 is configured for a 15 meter configuration and has a 30 meter configuration included in the demo.h file (This is where the chirp parameters are set).

    The chirp budget calc spreadsheet, on the TIDEP-0091 page, includes both the 15 and 30 meter configurations but also 50 and 100 meter configurations that you can implement by altering the parameters listed in the demo.h file.

    Thank you for the support. I have now understood how to edit the parameters for TIDEP-0091.

    I haven't found the accuracy I can achieve with each configuration. Assuming I setup my (board + reflecting surface + horn) perfectly what is the best accuracy I can achieve theoretically for the 30 m case and 15 m case?

    The theoretical Accuracy is going to be about 3-4 cm for both of these cases.
