This comment does not mean range zoom is supported in the release, it is that if it were then it could be bigger (but still a power of 2) than the next power of 2 of number of adc samples, it is to better clarify the meaning of numRangeBins. If you want to zoom in the range dimension, you will need to implement yourself within the memory and other limitations of the device.

Also, please note that high accuracy lab and oob demo (from which you picked up the definition) are two different application level codes and have different processing chain [atlhough there may be some commonality].
