I do have both devices ports showing in device manger. Which means pc already detected and recognized them both. I already used uniflash to clear the devices. so next step is using HSDC Pro to generate the data. when HSDC starts it scans for serial number of device but do not detect it. I will got Nvidia jetson tk1 development bored. is this the issue ? Or I just can connect awr1642boost and dca1000evm together without Nvidia to pc directly ?

Update.so I installed MATLAB runtime engine V(8.5.1)32 BITS. Now still have one error

Hi,

You should not need HSDC Pro.with DCA1000.

There is definitely something incorrect in your setup.

Here are the SW components needed

1) Windows PC (win7 or win10)

2) Matlab Runtime Library 8.5.1 32bits

3) mmwave studio (C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_00_00_02) for AWR1642 ES2.0

4) FTDI driver (included in mmwave studio)

I do not have local area connection option but have Ethernet. which I believe it is same thing.. IP already changed. I checked everything and uninstalled HSDC pro. still same issue. using windows 64 bit and runtime 8.5.1 32 bit. thanks

Hi Ali,

Here main reason of Studio error is due to no matlab runtime engine installed or wrong version installed.

Make sure that you have installed Matlab runtime engine from the link provided in the mmwave studio user guide

Hello, Need a solution. I even tried all instructions on different system but still have same issue. I do have right version of runtime engine. I do have free version of mmwave. I even installed mmwave sdk but still same thing. could it be I need this version to get it to work ?

Hi,

You should not need to install mmwave SDK or the MMWAVE DEVPACK EVM.

There may some interraction on your PC with the Matlab Installation.

Could you re-install it?

I will also check with extended team if they have seen this issue before

Ali,

What does your device manager look like when you have the DCA1000EVM and AWR1642BOOST connected to your PC?

It should look like this:

You should see four "AR-DevPack" entries along with two "XDS110" entries.

If you do not see all four of these entries, you do not have a correct setup.

You should have two power supplies: one for the DCA1000EVM and one for the AWR1642BOOST.

You see the object reference error when you haven't connected your DCA1000EVM to your PC for the first time.

Hello, I did try to reinstall it couple times. I even used a different system(regular laptop). I just deleted all apps from my system and will download them again but I do not think that is the issue. using windows 10(64 bit) surface pro 4. I even tried to download both versions of runtime sp1 and still same issue. Thank u

Ali,

Please make sure you connect the USB cable to the "Radar_FTDI" port on the DCA1000EVM. If you have already installed mmWave Studio, Windows should be able to automatically find the drivers for this device.

Just as a reminder, this setup requires two USB cables and two power supplies.

So I did system restore and deleted everything on pc and redownloaded everything. The error got fixed. but I still have only two in device manager com. Also what should I use for BSS FW and MSS FW. the video does not mention it. thanks

You still have an issue if you cannot see the DCA1000EVM in Windows Device Manager.

Please make sure that both power supplies are rated for 5V and at least 2.5A. You cannot proceed unless you see all six entries in Device Manager for the AWR1642BOOST and DCA1000EVM.

For the correct firmware to flash to the device, you will find it included in the mmWave Studio installation folder. You can find it in the directory listed below:

C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_00_00_02\rf_eval_firmware

Hi, Device manger does not detect dev pack. Also mmwave status is empty. I reinstalled the windows so the system is clean. Does it has to do with switches on dca1000evm. need an answer asap. thanks

Also these links for power source. using 5v 2.5a for radar and 5v 3a for dca1000evm.

Hello, I need a solution asap please. I do not know why but pc does not detect dev pack which I think come from dca1000evm. u keep closing my new post but in same time u do not give me a solution.

Ali,

You have the USB cable for the DCA1000EVM plug into the wrong port. It should be plugged into the "RADAR_FTDI" port and not into the "FPGA_JTAG" port.

This information is provided in the DCA1000EVM User's Guide.

Hi, I think I can tell where is the issue. so dca1000evm is connected to 5v 3a and AWR1642BOOST is connected to 5v 2.5a. when the switch of dca1000evm is off, the led lights keep blinking. when is the switch is on, the light of awr1642boost get less bright and dca1000evm light stay on also device manger detect these two unknown devices above. I already tried to install them as in video but it keep saying best device is installed and they stay unknown. Both cases I have both power sources connected to devices.

Ali,

For the DCA1000EVM, you need to put the power switch to the "DC_JACK_5V_IN" position.

Hi Klye. According to manual, the switch should be on when using a single power source.. the issue is not that sample. I already purchased a USB hub and ethernet connecter but still same issue. The new USB made some of green and red lights flashing but the pc still does not detect dev pack. I already tried four pc's and still have same issue. I even disabled firewall on windows.

Please try the following:

Go to this website first:

For the power setup, you should have one power supply connected to the AWR1642BOOST and another power supply connected to the DCA1000EVM with the power switch set to the "DC_JACK_5V_IN" position.

Hello Kyle, I have tried the above steps and chose Disable driver signature enforcement, but pc still does not detect it. Also, I have these following lights blinking. Also, power switch set to the "DC_JACK_5V_IN" position and there is three lights below the power switch are blinking red. Also all switches are set as in manual.

5V led: Green. thank you

Ali,

Those LEDs colors are correct based on your image in your most recent post. Those coloring schemes are correct at startup. After initial boot-up, those LEDs should all turn off and just the "5V_LED" stays on.
