IWR6843: I build the mmwave_dsk_68xx_dsp_dss project, but uniflash fails to program it

Part Number: IWR6843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

I can program the bin file that I compile in the mmwave_dsk_68xx_dsp_mss project in uniflash, but if I compile the mmwave_dsk_68xx_dsp_dss project - I get the below failure from Uniflash.   (I can flash the bin file that gets created from the 68xx mmWave DSK Demo - HWA version).   I can also load the single composite bin file xwr68xx_mmw_demo.bin - but I don't know how to compile that file, I need to be able to download a file I can change.

Also, is there documentation showing how to compile for and run code within the CCS debugger such that I can set breakpoints?

thanks Eric

  • Hi Eric,

Thank you for your question, there is an entire project on the TI Resource Explorer in order to perform all of these things.

Let me know if you still have more questions.

  • OK, I went to that link and clicked on where it said "CCS Target - CCS", then I clicked on "Import to CCS cloud", that opened up a lawyer page where I had to click on "I have read and agree".   It then gave me an error :Request cannot be complete  Error. Product 'mmwave SDK v3.2.0.04 is not currently installed". :

I then found where I could download the 3.02.1.02 30-AUG-2019 mmwave SDK kit (even though I believe I installed it before".  I also reinstalled the cloud app.   I did get to this following page that looks like an online web based dev environment, but I wasn't sure what to do next to build the either project:

I think that above mode is a way to build projects inside a Chrome session.  My original question was about attempts to build imported projects from CCS - they mostly seemed to build, but I couldn't always load them using uniFlash.

  • Hi Eric,

You should use the UNIFLASH tool in order to flash, the online-cloud-ccs method for flashing is not supported on mmWave Devices.

  • I will eventually need a way to program the DSP processor. But I have not been able to program the mmwave_sdk_68xx_hwa project that I built for just the ARM processor. UniFlash gets part way through and just freezes at the following page:

I had that same result on two computers I tried. also I had to reset my computers to get the com port to work again. I was unable to post the bin file, but could email it to you:

  • Hi Eric,

You should press the nRST button after powering on your board. Also make sure you are not connected via Tera Term or Putty.

Would you be able to post a picture of your powered board when this error occurs?

    Cheers,
