Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

Hi,

I got two IWR6843 AOP Plug-in module today. I used uniflash to program the "aop_pplcount_lab_68xx.bin" of lab20 to both module. And use the "GUI_A_base_no_logic\main_pplcount_viz.exe" to execute the people count evaluation. I did install the "CP210xVCPInstaller_x64.exe" SICP2105 UART driver, set the UART port with Enhanced COM, set DATA port with Standard COM and reboot my PC before evaluation above. The result is I successfully execute "main_pplcount_viz.exe" people count on my first module but failed on the second one. The error message in console as following:  Please help how to fix it on my second module, or the module is actually as NG module?

  • Hi Jemmy,

Did you take the device out of flashing mode before trying to run the demo? From the error messages, the device is not responding to CLI commands.

    Regards,

    Justin

  • In reply to Justin Curewitz:

Yes, I did change the SW2 to OFF.

  • In reply to Jemmy Wu:

    Hi Justin,

    Any advise?

  • In reply to Jemmy Wu:

    Hi Jemmy,

Please connect to the UART Com Port with a application like Tera Term.  Then run the demo on the device.  If the device is running properly, you should see output on Tera term that looks like:

    mmwdemo//>

Then the device can receive commands.  Please check and let me know what you see.

    Regards,

    Justin

  • In reply to Justin Curewitz:

    Hi Justin,

I got Tera term message "Access Denied" if start people count gui first then tera, or "Posts not connected" if do tera first then people count gui.

    A Test:

    1. Execute Tera term

    2. Select "Serial"

    3. Choose "COM12: Silicon Labs Dual CP2105 USB to UART Bridge: Enhanced COM Port [COM12]

    4. The black console is standby

    5. Execute the "main_pplcount_viz.exe" in lab20

    6. Select UART with COM12, DATA with COM13 in Visualizer Setup

    7. Got status "COM STATUS:Ports Not connected"

    B Test:

    1. Execute Tera term

    2. Select "Serial"

    3. Choose "COM13: Silicon Labs Dual CP2105 USB to UART Bridge: Standard COM Port [COM13]

    4. The black console is standby

    5. Execute the "main_pplcount_viz.exe" in lab20

    6. Select UART with COM12, DATA with COM13 in Visualizer Setup

    7. Got status "COM STATUS:Ports Not connected"

    C Test:

    1. Execute the "main_pplcount_viz.exe" in lab20

    2. Select UART with COM12, DATA with COM13 in Visualizer Setup

    3. COM STATUS:Ports connected

    4. Execute Tera term

    5. Select "Serial"

    6. Choose "COM12: Silicon Labs Dual CP2105 USB to UART Bridge: Enhanced COM Port [COM12]

    7. Got error "Cannot open COM12: Access denied."

    D Test:

    1. Execute the "main_pplcount_viz.exe" in lab20

    2. Select UART with COM12, DATA with COM13 in Visualizer Setup

    3. COM STATUS:Ports connected

    4. Execute Tera term

    5. Select "Serial"

    6. Choose "COM13: Silicon Labs Dual CP2105 USB to UART Bridge: Standard COM Port [COM13]

    7. Got error "Cannot open COM13: Access denied."

  • In reply to Jemmy Wu:

    Hi Justin,

    Any further advise?

Or should I return to you? Or can you send another one to me for exchange?

  • In reply to Jemmy Wu:

    Hi,

When connected to COM12, did you set the baud rate to 115200? You won't be able to connect the GUI and Tera Term to the device at the same time - this test was just to check if you are getting output. Please check the EVM user's guide and make sure all switches are in the correct location.  Have you been able to run the OOB demo?

    Regards,

    Justin

  • In reply to Justin Curewitz:

Where is the baud rate set? in Tera? in DeviceManager? If DeviceManager, I tried it before, same problem.

If I only connect Tera. Once I select the COM12, it just left a black console screen. Nothing is output.

Regarding switches, yes, I did follow the user's guide, and review again the switches are set correctly. Keep in mind, I purchase two modules. This is failed, another one is work. I compared the switches of both module are set exactly same.

  • In reply to Jemmy Wu:

    Hi,

You would set the baud rate in the device manager.  Please try running the OOB demo to ensure that this is an issue seen due to the board and not due to the software.

    regards,

    Justin

  • In reply to Justin Curewitz:

I just tried, it's not useful. Still failed.

Can you guide me how to exchange it? what is the process flow? "fastest way" please.
