TPS8802: HORN Start and Stop From MCU Via I2C or GPIO

Part Number: TPS8802

Hello there,

Currently we are interested in the TPS8802 IC.

For that we have one question about to start the HORN. (any 2 terminal or 3 terminal piezo).

Our system will comprise of the SMOKE and CO (for that we like to use the TPS8802) ..and other LPG,CO2 sensors are also there but fro them we have different AFE which is working fine now.

So the main question is we want to control the pizzo buzzer from TPS8802 from MCU. (so is it possible to buzz the piezo buzzer from MCU using I2C or GPIO even if there is no smoke or CO ).

From the datasheet it seems that using i2c res ENABLE2 ( bit 1,HORN_EN) we can start and stop the buzzer) , is it correct ? or it is something like  automatically  start and stop from the TPS8802 if it detects the smoke/CO and HORN_EN bit is set. Basically we want to start piezo manually from the MCU.(whenever our system detects the various gases we want to start the piezo, and our goal is to use a feature of the TPS8802's horn driver instead of making a separate afe for piezo)

Thanks,
Bhautik
