IWR6843ISK: FLASH MODE ISSUE DS2 LED NOT SWITCHING ON

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, MMWAVEICBOOST

Hi,

Tried to flash my iwr6843isk with mmwaveboost,

SOP jumpers are right, powercycled, reset is done but DS2 (GPIO2) is not switching on .

So the device is not able to flash.

Totally unrelated : Is there a protective coating on exposed parts of the PCB as i can see that copper being oxidized even under closed enclosures.

Hoping the image can help

Thanks

  • Hi Shreyas,

I've asked an expert to look into this and we should have an answer for you later this week.

    Cheers,

    Akash

  • Hi Shreyas,

After changing the SOP you need to press the reset button, Or if you are Power recycling the board in this configuration you need to apply  as shown in the EVM user guide.

Also could you please show your device manager? Which COM port is used for the uniflash application?

    Thanks and regards,

    CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B.

  • Hi Chetan Kumar,

As I have already mentioned in my earlier post as well, SOP jumpers have been put , Power cycled, Reset has been done but the DS2 LED as mentioned in the EVM user guide.

As my earlier image also indicates that PGOOD LED is switched on and proper reset cycles are done .

Attaching the images which have the uniflash error COM5 as indicated in the below image is the UART port

The image also has the FLASH Log for your reference .

Why is there a break signal generated ? any other logs to be checked to debug this ?

Cortex R4 is suspended while flashing the device , Could you explain why this happens ?

Attaching the previous image as well

We even tried flashing through FTDI port but was unsuccessful. :(

Please do provide the resolution to these problems.

And we haven't understood why the boards are turning black , This also was asked in the previous post.

    Thanks

    Shreyas

  • Hello Shreyas

From the picture, Is the NERROR LED illuminated? It is not clear from the picture, If NERROR LED is illuminated then there seem to be some hardware fault in the board.

Try reconnecting the hardware IWR6843ISK without the screws to MMWAVEICBOOST.

Boards are changing color is mainly due to oxidation, Board has immersion silver finish to support low loss requirements at mmWave frequencies. When it gets into contact with air oxidation layer is formed. This should not affect any performance of the Antenna or board. Recommended practice is to cover the board with the ESD cover when not in use.

    Thanks and regards,
