Hi Team,

In One of our Design we are using the Mux TS3L501E in that Mux we observed 100Mbps is working fine.

During the 1000Mbps Ethernet operation we are observing  Packet loss. we are examine the ray we find the Thermal PAD connectivity issue (refer the Image).

please provide the Thermal pad and Via(filled with Resign) recommendation.

Please Provide the suggestion on the what are the root cause for the  performance issue in 1000 Mbps.

    Please refer to the layout land pattern at the bottom of the datasheet and this application note for recommendation on PCB layout.

    What is the datarate per channel you are using to pass through the switch? 
    Do you have scope shots of the input and output of the switch? 
    Does reflowing the board resolve the issue?
    Does replacing the IC resolve the issue? 
    How many boards are having packet loss out of how many are in production?

    We will probe and share the Scope image.

    Does replacing the IC resolve the issue?

    After one more time reflow we observed the same packet drop issue.

    How many boards are having packet loss out of how many are in production? 

    All 10 received Board having the same issue . We have 8 IC in same Board.

    Please Confirm , This Ground Contact( less) will affect the performance of the IC (i.e 1000Mbps Ethernet Packet drop)

    Prasath,

    My understanding is that if you are passing the 1000base t Ethernet signal standard that you are only passing 250Mbps per each of the 4 channels.  

    If you are actually passing 1000Mpbs per channel you will need a signal switch that can support >1.5GHz and the TS3L501E bandwidth limitation is causing your system to be marginal.  The 100Mbps data rate per channel only needs a switch with 150MHz bandwidth. 

    TS5MP645 could be an option for 1.5 GHz switch.  

    Any electrical system needs to have a good ground connection for best performance.  However, I don't know if this is the root cause of your problem at this point.

    Hi Adam,

    Thanks for your support. 

    Based on VCT voltage change (1.8V) in our design 1.8V 100 Base-T/1000 base-T working fine.

    But 10Base-T not working (both 1.8V and 3.3V Vct) even though the link also not able to establish.

     

    When By passing the Mux (TS3L501E) 10BaseT is working fine without issue. We observed the Peak to Peak differential as 5.6V (PFA)

    in Datasheet Mentioned VIO is up to VCC (3.3V). in Ron Specif max up to 3.3V please Provide Ron upto 5.6V.

    Please clarify Mux TS3L501E can support 10Base-T. if you already tested 10Base-T with TS3L501E Mux, Please share the test result.

    Also please share the application notes if any.

    Hi Prasath,
    What is your input voltage level? On the graph it looks like you are applying negative voltage at the input.
    Do you have a graph for input voltage versus output voltage?

    Hi Adam,

    Good day. Thanks for the Update.

    I have used the Vct is 3.3V as per the Ethernet Spec 1000 Base t- Swing is +2 V so Ethernet IO level goes to the (3.3+1 V=4.3V) in IO Pins. But IC VCC is 3.3V .

    Please confirm TS3L501E will be workning in the all Tri speed (10, 100 and 1000 Mbps) without any issue with VCT 3.3v and IO MAX (3.3+1.25= 4.55)( considers the 10 base- T).

    What is the clapping voltage level for the IO Pins ?

    As per datasheet , Absolute Maximum Ratings is 7 V for IO. with VCC 3.3V

    Please provide the Ron resistance of the IO up to 7V.

    Whether the IC characteristics with above IO level are VCC (3.6V) in TI .
