Hi,

Using TS3DV642,2:1 switch; is it possible to implement 4:1 switch??

By using 3 TS3DV642 ICs as:- 2 ICs will receive 4 inputs, combining outputs, the third TS3DV642 IC, will further select one output.

If supported, what is the routing guidelines to be followed ?

Yes, you will have to cascade multiple TS3DV642 to achieve 4:1 switch solution. The limiting factor is your TX and RX capability on the signal path and the data rate your signal chain needs to support.

Passive FET switches do not have any drive capability and are not ideal wires having parasitic resistances Rdson or Ron and capacitances Con. Each switch you place in serial will add these parasitic values to your signal path.

Hi David,

Thank you for the guidance.

The TX is a standard DVI/DP CPU and RX is a standard DVI/DP monitor.

So will cascading for 4:1 function properly? (considering Rdson, Ron, Con)

As long as all design parameters have been properly considered, cascading will work.

You may consider adding a redriver/redtimer to help with the signal quality, the placement of the redriver/retimer would depend on the TX and RX capability.

Is it ok if I use DS16EV5110A (Video Equalizer (3D+C) for DVI, HDMI Source/Repeater/Sink Applications); at each of the four input sides alone?

I am not familiar with DS16EV5110A, you can take a look at DP159 (AC coupled TMDS) or TMDS181 (DC coupled TMDS) as well.

Instead TS3DV642, please also consider using HD3SS215 instead.
