TS5A21366: thermal problem of TS5A21366

Part Number: TS5A21366
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1511

Hi :

In data sheet, it said that the firee-air temperature of TS5A21366 is -40--85C.

My question is what will happen if I use TS5A21366 in 100C?

Our product need to survive in 85C, that means that the temperature of TS5A21366 could be 100C.

thank you

  • Hi Hao,
The recommended operating conditions of TS5A21366 is -40~85C ambient. We have other SPST switches that is rated up to 125C.
TMUX1511 also SPST but rated -40~125C ambient temperature. This part also features 1.8V logic compatibility, Low Ron and has wider supply range comparing to TS5A21366.

For your reference here is the datasheet for TMUX1511:www.ti.com/.../ts5a21366.pdf

    What is your application scenario?
  • Hi Helen:
It is used to control the bridge's excitation voltage polarity for load cell. So I need very low Ron of switch.
I have tried to test TS5A21366 in 100C, it can survive. But I don't konw is there risk to be damaged in 100C?
    thanks for your support.
  • HI Hao,
We recommend running our devices under the recommended operating conditions specified in datasheet. The TS5A21366 is recommended to operate at 85C max and the Ron value is not characterized up to 100C. The TMUX1511 Ron value is characterized up to 125C and max ron within -40~125C is specified in datasheet.
    Thank you,
    Helen
