CD74HC4051: Is the IEE equal to ICC? And if there exists the condition that IEE is negative?

Hi team,

In my customer's application, VEE = -4.5V ，VCC = 5V. Moreover, the ability of VEE circuit is weak. Could you please kindly support below two questions:

1. When IC works, is IEE equal to ICC(as datasheet listed below).

2. During normal application, is there any condition that IEE is negative, which means the current flows into VEE pin?

Hi Wilson,

On question 1, under datasheet recommended operating conditions, the Iee should be the same or lower than ICC- I will double confirm this with our design team. What is your application use case that IEE is a concern for you?

On question 2, when you mentioned " normal" operation, i'm assuming you meant VEE is at negative voltage( VEE = -4.5V ，VCC = 5V). and device is operating per datasheet recommended operation conditions. In this case, the current is flowing from the VCC to VEE pin.

Hi Wilson,
I had confirmed the answer above that the Iee is lower or the same as Icc. Current will not flow into the Vee pin when it is biased at the lowest potential.

What is your application use case that Iee is a concern to you?
