MUX506: Use of pull down resistor on in and out pin of mux

Part Number: MUX506

Hello

Is the Enable pin of the Mux506 pulled down internally?

I know there are some products on the datasheet that other muxes are internally pulled down to a resistance of about 6M ohms.

However, there is no mention in the datasheet for this product. Is it possible to check this part?

Additionally, Is it better for Mux ic to have a pull down resistor on the control / output pin in switching?

Are there any differences in the output signal characteristics of the Mux when using the pull down resistor and when not using it?

Please check it.

Thank you.

Best Regards.

From Anthony.

  • Hi Anthony,

The MUX506 does not have an internal pull down at the enable pin.

For the enable pin, if you have a weak pull down resistor externally it would help preventing floating enable pin status. A weak pull down resistor added at the enable pin should not change the output signal characteristics, as long as the logic input high is higher than 2V, and the logic voltage low is lower than 0.8V.

    What is your application scenario?

    Thank you,

    Helen
