SN74CB3Q16244: about -0.5~7V Vin when SN74CB3Q16244 is not powered up

Part Number: SN74CB3Q16244

hi dear supporting team,

understand that before powering up SN74CB3Q16244 I/O will be hi-z status.  so that means even if customer apply -0.5~7V which is absolute rating range at switch I/O when Vcc=0V, is it ok  without damage the chip? and after power up, the chip could still work normal if the I/O voltage goes to recommend condition? tks a lot!

  • Vera,

The SN74CB3Q16244 device will be high impedance when Vcc = 0 V.  The abs max rating as a note 1 that states the recommended operating condition performance is not implied and there is reliability risk associated exposing the parts to abs ratings for extended periods.

Why do you want to expose this device to voltages outside of the recommended 0 to 5.5 V?  What are you connecting to the device that could cause these voltages?

    Thank you,

    Adam

  • hi Adam,

understand that. customer is just checking the possible range, will try to control the voltage if we told them so. thank you very much!
