TMUX1108: Compare with TMUX1108 and CD74HCT4051 for prop delay and transition timing

Part Number: TMUX1108
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD74HCT4051

Dears,

My customer is looking for some parameters of them that did not list in datasheet.

They need to know

- switching speed/time from channel to channel

- switching speed/time from input to output

Is there anyone can help.

Thanks.

  • Hi Peter,

For the TMUX1108 - the switching time between channels is listed as Ttransisition. Please see the image for the 5V spec parameters of this device

The propagation delay from a switch is typically very small as the device can be equated to a wire - therefore the prop delay is heavily dependent on the load capacitance in the system as it is a combination of the device on resistance and load capacitance. Please see the linked E2E post for more on prop delay of mux and switch devices.

For the CD74HCT4051 the timing parameters are also listed in the datasheet shown below:

I would recommend for the customer to use the TMUX1108 in there system as the device on resistance is 2.5Ω compared to 70Ω of the CD74HCT4051, which will greatly improve prop delay impact for a similar load capacitance.
