Relays vs Analog Switches

I basically have a situation where I need to connect a current source to different sets of speakers for impedance measurement. Hence the switch selection in this case is critical to have a low on resistance as to not affect the reading.

From what I found, relays have a lower on resistance than analog switches I think (correct me if I'm wrong) since the switch contact is physical.

What would your suggestion be? To use relays, analog switches or something else?

Thanks

  • Hi Luke,

This sounds like a great application for an analog switch/mux. We have a number of low Ron switches. I suggest checking out the parametric search and sort by Ron. This way you can quickly compare Ron specs for switches with your requirements, such as configuration/channels, supply voltage, etc. I can also help select one if you provide me with the specific requirements for your system.

Let me know if the search helps you find a switch that meets your needs and I would love to know which one you choose. I will be happy to continue to help if you have more questions!

    Regards,

    Kate
